The match between Karatsev and Sinner took a peculiar course: The Russian won the first round 6-0 - even if the result did not quite match the course of the game, it must be said: Jannik Sinner could not win a single point on his own second serve.

In the second act, Sinner quickly led 4-0, Karatsev had several chances to make a comeback. The 6: 3 for Sinner was also celebrated by most of the fans (500 are allowed per day) - the French spectators wanted to see more tennis.

With a score of 2: 1 for Karatsev in the decisive set, however, the rain started first. And provided a one-hour break. Sinner had two break opportunities in the seventh game, Karatsev defended offensively and courageously. The semi-finalist of the Australian Open then found a chance to break, but hit three backhand balls in a row out of bounds. Sinner made it better for a few moments - after 2:26 hours of play, the teenager got the decisive break and served to 0: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 4. And thus reciprocated for the defeat suffered in Dubai.

In the first match of the day, Lorenzo Musetti - like on Tuesday against Félix Auger-Aliassime - was able to assert himself in three sets in the round of 16. Musetti defeated Sebastian Korda 6: 3, 1: 6 and 6: 4 in a duel between two # NextGen players. The 19-year-old Italian was the first player to reach the quarter-finals. And there waits for the winner of the game between David Goffin and Aljaz Bedene.

The two top seeded players, Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas , only intervene in the game on Thursday.
