Alexander Bublik won his first match of the season in Marseille

Whether Alexander Bublik is on a playful level with Nick Kyrgios, who has already been in the Wimbledon final, can at least be doubted. However, where the two ATP professionals are at a similar level is the behavioral issues on and off the field - although the Australian is certainly still ahead in this rating, at least as far as the media echo is concerned.

In any case, what can be proven is that the Kazakh had not yet won a single professional tennis match until yesterday 2023, whether on the ATP tour or in the Davis Cup duel against China. During his recent loss in Rotterdam to Stan Wawrinka, self-frustration elicited the following profound line from the referee: "I'm complaining about how stupid this damn sport is because it's stupid shit. Playing tennis gives me a headache."

Wawrinka is struggling to reach the round of 16

But yesterday, Monday, the time had finally come and Bublik was able to clinch his first win of the current season. In the first round of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Marseille, the 25-year-old defeated the Serb Filip Krajinovic 5: 7, 6: 3, 6: 4 despite losing the first set. In the round of 16, either Gregoire Barrere (France) or Marc-Andrea Huesler (Switzerland) is waiting for the "enfant terrible".

And because Wawrinka was mentioned above: The Swiss also solved his first task in the south of France in the person of Zizou Bergs from Belgium. However, the three-time Grand Slam champion had to go the full distance to leave the field after 2:31 hours with 6: 4, 6: 7 (6), 6: 4 as the winner.

Here the single tableau from Marseille.
