Daniil Medvedev celebrated 18 wins in a row

Daniil Medvedev is without a doubt the man of the hour on the ATP tour. After his tournament victories in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, the Russian is also in the semi-finals of the Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells. In the quarterfinals (6:3 and 7:5 against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina) he celebrated his 18th win in a row.

The way to the semi-finals was an extremely rocky one for Medvedev. In his round of 16 duel against Alexander Zverev, the 2021 US Open winner injured his right ankle, and a round later he cut his finger. And Medvedev has never been happy with the slow courses in the Californian desert anyway.

Self-confidence as the key to success

The fact that Medvedev made it past the fourth round for the first time in Indian Wells, he attributed to one simple factor after his quarter-final game: self-confidence. Without this, according to the sixth in the world rankings, he would probably have left California early on. "I'm really happy that despite the circumstances and the crazy matches, I'm still in the tournament and keeping the series alive," said Medvedev.

Meanwhile, Medvedev's fans don't have to have any reason to worry. The wound on the finger is not a problem, the ankle felt better and better during the match against Davidovich Fokina. Bad news for Frances Tiafoe, who is looking to end the Russian's winning streak on Saturday.
