Carlos Alcaraz met Grigor Dimitrov in the third round at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid

Carlos Alcaraz moves into the round of 16 of the Mutua Madrid Open as the favorite gymnast: The local hero, who is number one in the Spanish capital, defeated the 26th seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the third round after almost exactly one and a half hours of play 6:2, 7:5 .

The 19-year-old from Murcia impressed with a strong service performance in both rounds, which gave him the foundation for his consistently powerful game. Dimitrov was held in the first set by the whirlwind from Murcia with practically no chance - in the second round the south-eastern European was able to make the game more open, but at the decisive moment the current world number two struck ungraciously.

In the round of the last 16, a real hit awaits the fans in the Caja Magica. Alexander Zverev (1: 6, 0: 6 against Frenchman Hugo Grenier), who remained undated in his third round match today, may or must get into the ring against what is currently probably the hottest (clay) tennis iron in the world.

What clearly speaks for the German number one: In the direct head-to-head, the Hamburg team clearly leads 3:1.

Here is the individual tableau from Madrid.
