Jan-Lennard Struff (33) could replace Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (26) as German number one in the tennis world rankings next week - the prerequisite would be a triumph in the final of the Masters in Madrid on Sunday against Spain's young star Carlos Alcaraz. If Struff actually wins, he would climb to 21st place, Zverev will drop out of the top 20 on Monday.

After his semi-final triumph against the Russian Aslan Karazew (4: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4), Struff will climb to at least 28th place, it is already the best placement of his career so far.

"I think he has a 20-0 record on Spanish clay courts, so it will be very difficult," said Struff about the duel with Alcaraz. But Warsteiner wants to "try everything, otherwise I don't have a chance. I'll do my best to beat him and win my first title."
