Andy Murray's very first match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami took a lot less time than expected: Murray, who likes to play his entry fee especially in the early rounds of tournaments, only needed 93 minutes to beat Federico Delbonis to enforce 7: 6 (4) and 6: 1. The reward for this victory was already clear after the draw: there will be a meeting with Daniil Medvedev, who, like all seeded players in Miami, received a bye.
"We both served very well in the first set," Murray reported after his win. "I then simply managed to place a really deep return at 5: 4 in the tie-break and win the point. He has the set ball made a double mistake - and that was the key to victory.”
Medvedev disappointed at Indian Wells
So now it's up against Medvedev, who could climb to the top of the world rankings again with a place in the semifinals. “It will be a big challenge for me, a real test. I have a tough training block planned after this tournament and this match will show me where I am and what I need to work on. I look forward to it."
Medvedev certainly won't make it easy for him, especially as the Russian failed to impress in Indian Wells a few days ago. There Medvedev failed in the third round to Gael Monfils.
