Who is playing and who is missing in Monte Carlo?

First to the two big absentees: Neither record champion Rafael Nadal nor Carlos Alcaraz will open in the principality. Nadal is not ready to get back into the competitive circuit, Alcaraz is pausing after the grueling tournaments in the United States. Félix Auger-Aliassime will also not be there. But there is the comeback of Novak Djokovic, who, as is well known, was not allowed to start in the USA.

Who are the favourites?

First of all, of course, Novak Djokovic should be mentioned. However: In recent years, the Serb has taken it easy in Monte Carlo. So maybe Stefanos Tsitsipas again? He won the last two editions of the tournament. On the other hand, Daniil Medvedev, the leader in the annual ranking, is not to be expected. But maybe with Jannik Sinner. And: It will be interesting to see how Alexander Zverev fares in his adopted country.
