The first appearance of Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has triumphed in the Principality in the last two years, was eagerly awaited. After a strong start to the season in Australia, the current No. 3 in the world suffered early defeats in the following tournaments due to persistent shoulder problems, including the Sunshine Double in the USA.

Today's opponent was at least not a blank slate for the 24-year-old Greek, he already met Benjamin Bonzi twice last year. In both encounters, which took place within 10 days at the ATP tournaments in Stuttgart and Halle, Tsitsipas was able to get the upper hand twice on grass.

After a smooth service game, Tsitsipas was able to take the 26-year-old French's first service game and extended the lead to 3-0. During the following Bonzi service game, Sieder grabbed his left wrist after a backhand blow and had to be treated there. Afterwards, the current No. 46 in the ATP ranking tried to resume the match, but had to give up after the game to be 1: 4 behind due to injury.

In the round of 16, No. 2 seed Tsitsipas meets winner of the match Alexei Popyrin of Australia against Chile's Nicolas Jarry, who will face each other tomorrow.

Rublev also further

Andrey Rublev had much more trouble in his match with the Spaniard Jaume Munar. After losing the first set, the No. 5 in the tournament turned the match around and won 4:6, 6:2, 6:2 after 2:15 hours of play.
