A surprisingly clear result in the first semi-final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy: Holger Rune took revenge on Felix Auger-Aliassime for last week's final defeat in Basel and confidently defeated the current world number eight after only 87 minutes of play with 6 :4, 6:2. The 19-year-old will face either Novak Djokovic or Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sunday's final.
Weekly personal records by Rune
From the start of the game, the Scandinavian was in charge. Already in the first service game, FAA had to go through the debut with difficulty, in the second the break followed immediately. Rune did not give this up until the end of the round. In the second set, the Dane secured the first break to 15 in the North American's first service game and went on to take a 3-0 lead in his opponent's next service game.
The will of the 22-year-old was then broken, Rune prolonged his top form and added Auger-Aliassime the first defeat after 16 match successes in a row. Patrick Mouratoglou's protégé is also in his first final at the highest ATP tournament level, just a week after he had played his first championship match at the 500 level with the final in Basel. Rune has also always reached the decider on Sunday in his last four tournament appearances (Sofia, Stockholm, Basel, Paris-Bercy).
