ATP Masters Rome: Hanfmann cleans Rublev, Sinner flies out

After Jan-Lennard Struff in Madrid, Yannick Hanfmann is now starting the next big German run in a 1000 tournament. Hanfmann showed a fantastic performance against Andrey Rublev, defeating the Monte Carlo champion 7:6 (5), 4:6 and 6:3. In the quarterfinals, the qualifier could meet Alexander Zverev. So he wins his game against Daniil Medvedev.

Especially in the third set, Hanfmann showed nerves of steel: first he immediately equalized an early break, then he fended off several break chances at 1:1. With a score of 5: 3 for Hanfmann, Rublev got another break chance - the outsider fended off with a sensational stop. After 2:32 hours of play, Hanfmann sank a forehand for the first match point. And finished with an ace.

Sinner is defeated by Cerundolo

The audience in the stands of the Campo Centrale gave derwell everything - but in the end Jannik Sinner had almost no chance in his round of 16 against Francisco Cerundolo. Because the Argentine was the better man on the court from the middle of the second set at the latest, winning 6: 7 (3), 6: 2 and 6: 2. Cerundolo meets Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals, who had no problems with Lalso Djere.
