Once again, Daniil Medvedev managed to drive sections of the audience into his opponent's corner. And once again it was hearty in the end: Because Medvedev is in the round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome after beating Bernabe Zapata Miralles 3: 6, 6: 1 and 6: 3. There, the third in the world rankings could meet Alexander Zverev again. Should the German be able to win his match against JJ Wolf. In Indian Wells and especially in Monte-Carlo, Zverev had the win on his racket twice, but narrowly lost each time.

For Medvedev it was only the second match win in Rome. He had won the first against Emil Ruusuvuori. Overall, Daniil Medvedev has already had 35 successes this season - the highest on the ATP tour.
Rublev now against Hanfmann
But the big story of Monday was the departure of Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard, most recently champion in Barcelona and Madrid, lost against the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 3: 6 and 6: 7 (4). But will still travel to Roland Garros as number one.
Andrey Rublev, who has already won the title in Monte Carlo this season, also reached the round of 16. Rublev now meets Yannick Hanfmann, who said goodbye to local hero Marco Cecchinato.
