Yannick Hanfmann's run of success at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome continues. The German Davis Cup player also defeated local hero Marco Cecchinato a day after his convincing victory against Taylor Fritz. Hanfmann won 6: 4, 4: 6 and 6: 4 and now meets either Andrey Rublev or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Hanfmann served for the first time in the third set at 5:2, but had to accept a break from Cecchinato. A few moments later, however, Hanfmann struck at the second match point.
Alexander Zverev has the chance to follow suit later on Monday. After his opening success against David Goffin, Zverev meets the American JJ Wolf.
