ATP Masters Shanghai: Diego Schwartzman on the way back?
Diego Schwartzman is in the round of 16 at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai. The Argentine is on his way back into the top 100.

Diego Schwartzman tackled the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai with an almost devastating record of nine wins and 22 defeats. In the Chinese metropolis, the 31-year-old was finally able to convince again with three successes en suite. And get the first win against a top ten player since April 2022.
Schwartzman's 6:4, 3:6 and 7:6 (5) win against Taylor Fritz almost reminded him of old times. The Argentine ran tirelessly along the baseline and ultimately pulled out the American, who suffered a major setback in the fight for the ATP Finals due to the defeat.
According to Schwartzman, something has changed in his game since the French Open. "Obviously this isn't my year, so it's great to play a tournament like this at the end of the year. There aren't many tournaments left to play, but it will make a difference," said the former top ten man, adding further self-confidence refuel.
Schwartzman, who is currently only 130th in the world rankings and was therefore dependent on a wildcard in Shanghai, will meet Nicolas Jarry in the round of 16. With a win against the Chilean, the Argentine would return to the top 100 in the world.
