At 21, Jannik Sinner is not exactly one of the veterans on the ATP tour. Compared to Arthur Fils, however, Sinner can look back on an eventful career. The South Tyrolean has won six titles so far, one victory is missing for the seventh. Because in the semifinals of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Montpellier, Sinner was simply too strong for Fils after a tight first set. And won 7:5 and 6:2.

In tomorrow's final, Sinner will meet either tournament favorite Holger Rune or Maxime Cressy from the USA.

For Fils, his best ATP tournament to date comes to an end with the defeat against Sinner, who was second in Montpellier. On the other hand: it was only the second event at the highest level that the teenager contested. It premiered last fall in Paris-Bercy, where Fils lost to Fabio Fognini in round one. In the match against Sinner, the young Frenchman seemed a little tired. Sinner, on the other hand, is as fresh as the real youngster. No wonder: Jannik Sinner only played his first match of the tournament on Friday after a bye and the withdrawal of Marton Fucsovics.

After 94 minutes of play, a backhand from Fils sailed out, Sinner and his box, in which part-time coach Darren Cahill also took his place, were allowed to celebrate.
