Aslan Karatsev will not serve in Munich after all

As it became known on Monday, Aslan Karatsev will not travel north from the Serbian capital Belgrade to Munich to take part in the ATP 250 event. Only yesterday, Sunday, the Russian had contested the final of the Serbia Open in Belgrade - and there he failed as close as possible to world number 10 Matteo Berrettini.

So nothing came of the second career title for the aspiring Russian. Karatsev had won his first title on the ATP tour in Dubai after his sensational Australian Open, in which he played his way from qualifying to the semifinals. For Karatsev, the Slovak Norbert Gombos moves into the main field.

Zverev number one in Munich

This is the second extremely prominent cancellation that arrives a few hours before the start of the main draw in Munich. Jannik Sinner, this year's Miami finalist, had only canceled his start in Bavaria at the weekend.

However, these two cancellations do little to change the number one position in the main field. With Alexander Zverev, a local hero is at the top of the BMW Open, while the number two is the Norwegian clay court specialist Casper Ruud.
