Matteo Berrettini hasn't completely given up on his dream of the ATP finals - the Italian is currently in 13th position in the Race to Turin, with Alexander Zverev in front of him, who will not be there at the end of the season in Italy. In any case, the Roman still needs important points in the next few days to keep the small chance of participating in the season finale.
And so comes the current world number 16. the entry into the final of the ATP World Tour 250 event in Naples was just right. Berrettini, seeded number one at his home tournament, defeated the American Mackenzie McDonald in three contested sets and after 2:28 hours of play 3: 6, 7: 6 (2 ), 6:3 through.
In the final there is either a duel with compatriot Lorenzo Musetti or with the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic. In the live ranking, Berrettini has already improved to 14th position by taking part in the final. Should he succeed in winning the tournament on Sunday, he would also overtake British Cameron Norrie.
