What Dominic Thiem already announced in the press conference after his opening success at the Erste Bank Open has also been official since Wednesday: The Austrian received a wildcard for qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy.
The preliminary round in the French capital begins on Saturday, but if the tournament goes well in Vienna, Thiem could still be in Austria at this point. "Hopefully it won't work out," said the 2020 US Open winner on Tuesday.
In addition to Thiem, Hugo Gaston, Quentin Halys and Ugo Humbert also received free tickets for the qualification. Gilles Simon, who will end his career in Paris, Richard Gasquet, Adrian Mannarino and Arthur Rinderknech are right in the main draw thanks to their wildcards.
