Jeremy Chardy wants to return to the tour in early June after the severe side effects of a Covid 19 vaccination

Jeremy Chardy still has one chance: The now 35-year-old Frenchman wants to try his comeback at the clay court challenger in Lyon at the beginning of June. Currently only in ATP rank 279, the right-hander who last appeared on the tour at the US Open last year can take part in the event, which is worth a good 90,000 euros, by means of a protected ranking. Actually, Chardy should have made his return to the tour this week at the Challenger in Aix-en-Provence, but withdrew from this plan at short notice.

Side effects of a Covid 19 vaccination drag on

The winner of Stuttgart 2009 - at that time still on sand - has been struggling with the side effects of a Covid 19 vaccination since autumn of the previous year. He didn't just experience one of the unwanted effects, but several. The duration of the problems is also different for each patient, according to the south-western Frenchman in an interview with AFP shortly after the Grand Slam tournament in New York.

Chardy, who achieved his best placing of his career in 2013 with 25th place, resumed training at the beginning of the year. Since then he has been working on his return. The best result last season for the multiple Davis Cup starter was the quarter-finals at the Olympic tennis tournament in Beijing, where he failed in two sets to Alexander Zverev.
