Novak Djokovic is at the top - nothing new. After 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2020 it is already the seventh year that he has enjoyed his winter holidays from the top, a record of course. Only the six years in a row that Pete Sampras had from 1993 to 1998 will probably be difficult to crack for the "Djoker", purely for reasons of age, of course. /

Djokovic leads with 11,540 points ahead of Daniil Medvedev with 8,640 points; and Alexander Zverev also made up some ground with his victory at the ATP Finals, with 7,840 points ahead of Stefanos Tsitsipas with 6,540 ahead of Andrey Rublev (5,150), Rafael Nadal (4,875) and Matteo Berrettini (4,568).

This is followed by three youngsters, all of whom are celebrating their Christmas party for the first time among the top ten players: Casper Ruud (No. 8) was listed in 27th place a year ago, Hubert Hurkacz (9th) was still number 34 and Jannik Sinner (No. 10) still the 37.

Dominic Thiem loses - Federer tied with Oscar Otte in the race

In comparison to 2020, Dominic Thiem (he is now 15th), Roger Federer (16th) and Diego Schwartzman (13th) have left the end of the season rankings. With Thiem and Federer there are of course injury-related reasons, the corona world ranking rules alone prevented another slipping. For comparison: Thiem only has number 68 in the race, Federer only 79. Incidentally, also Oscar Otte - one of the climbers of the year who does not benefit from the corona rules, in the official ranking he is number 112 (he still stands that way higher than ever).

From a German point of view, after Zverev it's first ebb, then Jan-Lennard Struff (51st), Dominik Koepfer (54th), Peter Gojowczyk (85th) and Daniel Altmaier (100th).

In Austria, after Thiem, Dennis Novak (118th) is listed again, ahead of Jurij Rodionov (139th) and Sebastian Ofner (191st).
