It looked a lot like the second ATP Masters 1000 title for Holger Rune yesterday in Monte Carlo. Alone: Andrey Rublev had other ideas, after being 4-1 down in the third set he wrote for the first time as the winner of an event in this category. Regrettable for Rune, who, as the new number seven in the ATP world rankings, is higher than ever. Rublev, on the other hand, is stable in sixth place.
Novak Djokovic , who will compete in Banja Luka this week, is still enthroned at the top. Carlos Alcaraz follows as number two, he has 500 points to defend in Barcelona. Stefanos Tsitsipas has dropped from three to five. The Greek was eliminated in the Principality by Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals. In 2021 and 2022, Tsitsipas from Monte Carlo took full points.
Thiem just outside the top 100
Jan-Lennard Struff made a jump of 36 places with his quarterfinal entry after qualifying in Monte Carlo. As number 64, Struff is now the second best German behind Alexander Zverev , who is in 16th place. Daniel Altmaier made it back into the top 100 by winning the Challenger tournament in Sarasota.
Dominic Thiem is the best Austrian in 101st place, followed by Jurij Rodionov and Sebastian Ofner in 118th and 119th place.
In the 2023 annual ranking, the Race to Turin, Daniil Medvedev continues to lead ahead of Novak Djokovic and the new third Jannik Sinner. As of now, Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz and Karen Khachanov would also qualify for the season finale.
