ATP Rankings: Who makes the big leap in the race in Monte-Carlo?
There have been hardly any changes in the ATP rankings in the past week. The top eight also remained unchanged in the Race to Turin. That could change in Monte Carlo.

When the ATP launched the #NextGen-Masters in Milan a few years ago, the idea was that the players represented there would soon be competing for the starting places in the ATP Finals, which will be held a few days later . Well: Carlos Alcaraz took this principle to heart and accelerated it. The Spaniard, most recently champion in Miami, could actually secure his place in Turin with a good performance in Monte Carlo.
Now this task will not be easy for Alcaraz in the Principality, according to the draw Novak Djokovic is finally waiting in the quarterfinals. Who still leads in the ATP world rankings - but does not yet play a role in the Race to Turin. As well as? Djokovic only started at one tournament in 2022, and that didn't go as hoped either: In Dubai, Jiri Vesely was the last stop in the quarterfinals.

Alexander Zverev has been allowed to pick up the racket much more often - after various smaller and larger slips, the German number one only holds 670 points. However, the coming weeks are traditionally among the best of the year for Zverev: in Rome, Madrid and Munich he has already won the title at least once. Above all, a triumph in the 1000s would quickly catapult Zverev forward. But of course not only him.
Sinner in wait
Jannik Sinner , for example, is playing a strange season, in the last two appearances in Indian Wells and Miami the body went on strike during the tournament. Nevertheless, Sinner has already scored 870 points - a repeat of the start at the finals in Turin, where he was allowed to step in as a substitute in 2021, is within reach.
Two people who are currently on sick leave can be overtaken: Daniil Medvedev will probably only be seen again in the summer. The Russian is second in the race. And Matteo Berrettini , currently ninth, will probably have to sit out for a longer time after his batting hand operation. The lone leader, Rafael Nadal , is also taking a break due to injury. After the outstanding start to the season, Nadal is unreachable. The race on sand is on.
