Shapovalov beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6: 4 and 7: 5 in the Canadian duel. "I'm happy to have played extraordinary tennis today," he said happily afterwards.

The 22-year-old is finally celebrating a sense of achievement again in Stockholm: After his good first half of the year with the Wimbledon semi-finals as a highlight, Shapovalov only managed a little, he only celebrated five wins in twelve matches. Stockholm seems to be a good place: Here Shapovalov celebrated his only tournament victory so far in 2019.

Tommy Paul reaches first final on ATP tour

In the final of this year he will meet the American Tommy Paul (ATP No. 52), who had previously won against Frances Tiafoe - with 5: 7, 7: 6 (5) and 6: 4. Bitter for Tiafoe: He had already served on the match at 6: 5 in the second round ... "I haven't won against Frances since we were junior, so that was a good win for me," said Paul, who was pleased with his first final reached at the ATP level.

Paul and Shapovalov meet for the first time.
