The audience in the Ken Rosewall Arena was not necessarily set against Reilly Opelka. But definitely for Andy Murray. Who secured a place in the final of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Sydney after the 6: 7 (6), 6: 4 and 6: 4 achieved after 2:24 hours of play. Murray, who has been working with the German coach Jan de Witt for a few weeks, thanked him with a primal cry for the support.
Murray did not allow a single break over the entire season, but still just lost the first set in the tie-break. In the second act, the two-time gold medalist at the Olympic Games defended an early break, in the decision Murray succeeded in the ninth game in removing Opelka's service. After that, he did not give up any more points on his own serve.
On Saturday, Andy Murray will win the 47th title of his terrific career. In the final, the veteran will either face Aslan Karatsev, the number one of the event in Sydney, or compatriot Daniel Evans.
