Holger Rune when things were going a little better

Holger Runde was very much looking forward to his return to Bastad: last year he was granted the ATP Tour 250 event in Sweden, twelve months later Rune started as a seed. The joy didn't last long, Rune bit his teeth at Marc-Andrea Huesler's relentless attacking tennis. No shame of course, the Swiss had already successfully treated Fabio Fognini in the qualification.

For Rune, the exit in Bastad meant the 15th bankruptcy of the season. With 16 wins. Yes, there were a few notable ones: In Munich, for example, under very special weather-related circumstances, in the round of 16 against Alexander Zverev . Or against Stefanos Tsitsipas under normal circumstances in the fourth round in Roland Garros. But that was also the last match victory of Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune.

Rune loses against Ruud - and the composure

Since then, the teenager has only written in the minus area: At the French Open, he not only lost the match against Casper Ruud, but also his composure. Which Ruud didn't like. Then came the torture on grass: beginning with the defeat against Pablo Carreno Busta in HalleWestfalen, then the end at the start in Eastbourne against Ryan Peniston as well as in Wimbledon against Marcos Giron. And now against Huesler.

You certainly don't have to worry too much about Rune - the strong abilities of the 19-year-old are too obvious. The acceleration with the forehand is enormous, the first serve is already a weapon, the bite on the court is exemplary. On its flight to tennis orbit, the spaceship Rune has landed again for the time being. Maintenance work is pending.
