Frances Tiafoe continues to play well: The American, who failed at the US Open a month ago in the semi-finals in five tight sets against Carlos Alcaraz, is in the final of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Tokyo.

After 1:36 hours of play, Tiafoe prevailed 6: 2, 0: 6 and 6: 4 against the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon and will face either his compatriot Taylor Fritz or the Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the final of the traditional hard court event.

Only the second set was a small disaster for Tiafoe, who was seeded fourth in the Japanese capital - Kwon only gave up three points on his own serve in the whole round. "It was a strange match, but I'm happy to be through," said the 24-year-old in an on-court interview after the game.
