Clearance sale at the US Tennis Association USTA: The tennis umbrella organization in the USA, which currently still holds 93.8 percent of the shares in the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati, would like to sell the renowned event to a private prospect. The USTA announced this in a press release this week.

Sale would only affect the ATP event

"USTA's Board of Directors believes that now is the time to explore potential strategic options and alternatives to ensure the long-term growth of the tournament and take the event to the next level," the association said. The WTA tournament in Cincinnati would not be affected, it remains in the possession of the entertainment agency Octagon.

The aim is to secure the further progress of the tournament with a new investor on board - this would mean, for example, an increase in the prize money. It remains to be seen whether the location of the event could change in the event of a sale. Only in December of the previous year was the Masters event in Madrid sold by long-term owner Ion Tiriac to the company IMG.
