ATP: Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski finish 2022 as number one
With the triumph at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy, Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski also secured the number one position at the end of the season.

With a view to the double world rankings, one thing is already clear before the ATP Finals in Turin: The duo Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski will end the 2022 season as the number one team in the men's circus. That has been certain since yesterday's Zweistaz final success at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy via the Croatian-US American pairing Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek.
The Dutch-British team has only been together since the beginning of the year, but they have won seven tournaments, including three successes at ATP Masters 1000 events (Madrid, Montreal and Paris-Bercy). At Grand Slam level, the final at the US Open (6:7(4), 5:7 defeat against Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury) was the best result.
Koolhof at the ATP Finals for the second time
Of course it means a lot, said Koolhof after the final triumph: "It was one of the goals we set ourselves for this year. I think we've now achieved all the goals we set ourselves in January, that was an affair of the heart ." Skupski added: "It's been great with Wes from day one in Australia. We're growing together. We've had a few setbacks here and there but we've always come back well."
As of today, Koolhof is also listed as the individual number one in the doubles ranking. The 33-year-old from Gelderland will start next week at the ATP Finals for the second time after 2020. At that time he won the title with the Croatian Nikola Mektic. For his 32-year-old partner from Liverpool, however, taking part in the end of the season is a first.
