Koepfer prevailed against the Italian veteran with 5: 7, 6: 4 and 6.4 and is thus in the round of 16, where he meets either the tournament favorites Pablo Carreno Busta or Soonwoo Kwon. The German left-hander started as number 16 of the tournament with a bye. Koepfer lost to Carreno Busta at the Olympic Games and only last week in Cincinnati.
Germany's number two, Jan-Lennard Struff , is making his first appearance today. Struff, placed ninth in the traditional ATP Tour 250 tournament in Winston Salem, starts against the Italian Gianluca Mager, who was able to assert himself at the beginning against the Taiwanese Tung-Lin-Wu.
Special attention will be paid to old master Andy Murray on Tuesday, who has a strong opponent in front of his chest in Frances Tiafoe after his problem-free opening win against Lucky Loser Noah Rubin. David Goffin , number two in the tournament, also joins the game. The Belgian starts against Thiago Monteiro.
