Dominic Thiem has made up two places in the world rankings

Despite the first round at the ATP 250 event, Dominic Thiem can look forward to a slight improvement in world rankings. The Lichtenwörther has been back in 91st place in the ATP charts since Monday, two places better than last week. For the former world number three, this should only mean the calm before the storm, as Thiem could drop a whopping 360 points from the ranking next week. Thiem has a semi-final to defend in Madrid.

In Madrid, Dominic Thiem will start with Andy Murray ( here you can follow the match in the live ticker! ).

The young Dane Holger Rune will not start in Madrid. He should have started qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 event on Saturday, but was playing in the semifinals in Munich at the time. The tournament that Rune was able to win after a submission by Botic van de Zandschulp. There is still a reward for both: Both Rune (ATP-45.) and van de Zandschulp (ATP-31.) have new career highs.

Otte and Altmaier with new career bests

Another man who can look forward to a successful week in Munich is Oscar Otte. Germany's newly crowned number two makes another leap forward and is now in 52nd place, 13 places ahead of Daniel Altmaier, who also achieved a new career high with 65th place.

However, there are no changes to report at the top of the ATP world rankings. This will continue to be led by Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev. Behind are Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berretini. Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime complete the top 10.

From an Austrian point of view, Alexander Erler in particular caused a sensation in doubles. The Tyrolean is currently in 98th place in the world rankings and is therefore among the top 100 doubles players in the world for the first time.
