Current world No. 9 Félix Auger-Aliassime is not yet ready to take the position of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic . However, he added that he hopes to be one of the key figures on the tour one day. Auger-Aliassime is one of the most talented and promising players on the tour and quite a few believe he has the potential for Grand Slam titles.
The year 2022 had started really well. Winning the ATP Cup in early January was the first clue. Here "FAA" beat Cameron Norrie, Alexander Zverev and Roberto Bautista-Agut, there were defeats against Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev. After a strong Australian Open, it was over in the quarter-finals after a 2-0 set lead against Medvedev. The tournament victory in Rotterdam and participation in the final in Marseille followed. So everything was going great until the end of April. However, the 21-year-old is not likely to like the latest results. Of course the press asked him about it.
"It's something special when new players come along."
Of course, the "Big 3" shaped an era of tennis and will go down in history. The Canadian then sees himself a long way away from them. And he said his time will be different: "We won't just have three players dominating everyone else. We will have more players at the top. There are about 20 players who have already won major titles. I think there will be maybe eight or ten players who can win the big tournaments - a little more than before. Lets see what happens."
