"I'm on my way to Australia right now, and my heart is crying with all the tragic news. It's shocking how the bushfires are going, they have to stop!" Bencic wrote on social media on Wednesday. The Swiss woman has already made a donation, but wants to increase the amount at the tournament in Adelaide and at the Australian Open.

While many players - such as Julia Görges - want to donate a fixed amount per ace beaten, other women are becoming more and more creative. Simona Halep, for example, wants to donate an amount for every time she kisses her coach Darren Cahill. The Romanian is known for her emotional arguments with her Australian coach.

Bencic also considered a different route due to their lack of dominance when serving. "I am not the best when it comes to beating aces. But I can do double mistakes much better," she said without lack of self-humor. Bencic announced that $ 200 would be donated per double fault. "So I'm not angry with myself. And finally they make sense."

After Maria Sharapova asked Novak Djokovic to equalize her donation, Bencic also took an example. She carefully asked Alexander Zverev if he wanted to do it to her.

The DTB player had big problems with his serve at the ATP Cup and served a couple of double faults - especially in important moments of his matches.

Donna Vekic seemed to like the suggestion, but the Croatian asked on Twitter: "Do we actually include the training?"
