"Jürgen is not allowed to see you. He's too well-known, it's too dangerous. We don't want the hype and have to reject it," he was told by the prison administration, Becker said on the program "Sat.1 Spezial. Boris Becker". .

The 55-year-old received a lot of encouragement in the form of letters - including from his former rival Michael Stich. He wrote him "a three-page letter and found great words. I didn't expect that." In general, "many people from whom I would not have expected it" wrote long letters to him. He has read everyone ("You have all the time in the world in prison") and wants to "answer everyone".

Becker to the USA or Dubai?

Boris Becker does not see his future in Germany. "I don't think I can do that here," said the ex-world number one. But he "can't yet say where I'm going," said the 55-year-old, naming the USA or Dubai as possible options.

"I have to work, I'm not too bad about it either. I'm grateful that all my partners stayed with me and gave me a second chance," said Becker, who worked as a TV expert before his imprisonment.

Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in April and has been in prison in his adopted country of Great Britain ever since. Now he has benefited from a procedure designed to ease the pressure on overcrowded British prisons. Becker was released last Thursday and thus much earlier.

The three-time Wimbledon champion no longer has to serve out the remainder of his sentence. Becker had been accused of offenses in his insolvency proceedings, which had been ongoing since 2017.
