After Jordan Thompson's opening win against Tallon Griekspoor, it looked as if Botic van de Zandschulp could equalize for the Dutch in the top singles against Alex de Minaur. Van de Zandschulp won the first set 7:5. Then de Minaur equalized 6:3. In the decisive round, van de Zandschulp was closer to a break. De Minaur then took the decisive trick, taking his opponent's serve to 6:4 in the tenth game.
The doubles, in which the reigning Wimbledon champions Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell would have played for Australia, had become meaningless.
In the semi-finals, Lleyton Hewitt's team will now face the winner of the match between hosts Spain and Croatia. This match will take place on Wednesday (live from 4 p.m. on ServusTV On).
