Davis Cup: Austria wins 4-0 against Ireland
The Austrian Davis Cup team didn't let anything go wrong in their World Group I playoff game in Ireland and, thanks to the double victory from Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler, has an unassailable 3-0 lead. Miedler then won the meaningless third singles and made it 4-0.

Erler and Miedler won against Conor Gannon and David O'Hare 6:1, 7:6 (5) and thus made the away win for the ÖTV team clear early. After a fairly relaxed first round, things got tighter in set 2, with the tiebreak having to decide.
Dominic Thiem and Sebastian Ofner had already secured the two individual points on Saturday. Thiem had to stretch a lot in the 7:6 (6), 6:3 against world number 935 Michael Agwi. "He has great potential. His service is really outstanding, but the rest of the game is also really good," Thiem said afterwards.
The Lichtenwörther native gave up a break twice in the opening set and had to fend off three set points himself in the end. Ofner then won 6:4, 6:4 against Osgar O'Hoisin (ATP No. 1015) and spoke of a "very solid match".
Ireland-Austria: Only one more to come
Erler and Miedler, both top 40 players, were also the clear favorites against the unranked Irish doubles duo. "'Alex' and 'Luci' have trained well here and are definitely going into the game as favorites. That's why I'm hoping that tomorrow after the third game it will be 3-0 - and then we'll have done what we came here to do." said team boss Jürgen Melzer yesterday - and should now be satisfied.
Miedler then played the meaningless fourth singles for Sebastian Ofner against Michael Agwi, he won 6:3, 3:6, [10:8] and made it 4:0. However, a fifth match will be canceled due to the early decision.
