Probably the team in which Matteo Berrettini is number two in a Davis Cup encounter. This happened on Friday in Bologna, where Berrettini, currently number 15 in the world, had to give way to his younger and better-ranked compatriot Jannik Sinner in the Italian team. In any case, the Wimbledon finalist from 2021 didn't let anything burn in the first match of the day in Bologna, winning against an overwhelmed Sebastian Baez 6: 2 and 6: 3.

Sinner, on the other hand, had big problems against Francisco Cerundolo. In the first set, the Argentinian was actually the player who was able to create better chances, but Sinner still won 7:5. Only to take an artistic break in the second round and lose it 6-1. In the decision, however, the South Tyrolean prevailed 6:3 and thus gave Italy an unassailable 2:0 lead.

That leaves the Italians with just as many wins after two games and a place in the quarter-finals in Malaga is guaranteed. And with the options the Azzurri have with Lorenzo Musetti playing in place of Sinner on Wednesday, they're definitely one to watch for the 2022 Davis Cup title.
