Botic van de Zandschulp wants to score for the Netherlands

Australia has already triumphed 28 times in the Davis Cup, the next attempt begins in Málaga against the Netherlands. Which in turn have not yet been able to win a title in the most traditional team competition in tennis. Could it work out for either of these two teams this year? Difficult, although the field seems more open than ever after the cancellations of Carlos Alcaraz for Spain and especially Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner for Italy.

Of particular interest will be the meeting of the two top players Botic van de Zandschulp and Alex de Minaur. Because de Minaur has won eight of his last nine singles in the Davis Cup. And van de Zandschulp made a big showing in the intermediate round in Glasgow: the Dutchman defeated Cameron Norrie, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik and thus paved the way for his team to be among the top eight nations in 2022.

Wimbledon winner against world number one

In the second singles, Tallon Griekspoor will attack for the Dutch. And probably meet Thanasi Kokkinakis, who made his debut at the ATP Finals in Turin last week alongside Nick Kyrgios.

In doubles there will definitely be an expert meeting: Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell have already won the title at Wimbledon this season. And Wesley Koolhof, who is playing for the Netherlands with Matwe Middelkoop, is currently at the top of the doubles world rankings.

The winner of the game between Australia and the Netherlands will face either hosts Spain or Croatia in the semi-finals.
