Giorgi's name appeared when two Italian doctors were arrested who are said to have issued fake corona vaccinations. This allegation has now been substantiated by statements by the doctor concerned. She was arrested last February.
As Corriere del Veneto reports , the accused doctor Daniela Grillone made a confession - she deeply regrets her actions, it is said. Grillone is accused of not vaccinating hundreds of doctors, nurses, entrepreneurs, police officers and VIPs, but of having issued appropriate vaccination certificates. Among others, Camila Giorgi and her family.
"None of the vaccines for the Giorgi family actually administered"
According to Grillone, the Giorgi family had been treated by her for a long time, particularly when Camila Giorgi suffered from tennis elbow. "Just before the start of summer, Camila came and asked about the possibility of receiving false certificates for all mandatory vaccinations and the Covid vaccine," she continued. She then made appointments for summer and autumn (probably in 2021). "I can confirm with absolute certainty that none of the vaccines given to the Giorgi family were actually administered. In this case, I have not received any payment."
The Italian public prosecutor's office has scheduled an evidence hearing for the coming weeks, at which Grillone and her "successor" vaccinator Erich Goepel Volker are to be interrogated.
For Camila Giorgi, this could result in both criminal and professional consequences. On the one hand because of forgery; on the other hand, because Giorgi used the wrong certificate to gain access to various countries and various tournaments in order to play tournament tennis.
The Italian Tennis Federation has already announced that it will wait for the investigation to end and take action in the event of a conviction. How the players' union WTA will react is still open.
Giorgi is currently ranked 66th in the tennis world, in 2018 she was already 26th in the world rankings, partly after she reached the quarterfinals in WImbledon.
