The world rankings-13. complained that he - like some others - had only heard about the cancellation of the ATP tournament in Washington via Twitter. The official news came only a short time later.

"The way they communicate is crazy. And also how they want to run the US Open," the Argentine told lanation.com.ar of the US association. "The conditions are crazy: after a seven-month break, I'm playing a Grand Slam tournament with only one companion, locked up in a hotel for 21 days without being able to get out." Still, Schwartzman does not seem to think of a cancellation. "I'm going to play because I have to. It's my job." His intention is to "play as much as possible and then keep looking" - as far as the countries concerned and the negative corona tests are concerned.

Schwartzman plans to play the Cincinnati tournament after Flushing Meadows before the US Open. Then Kitzbühel (which takes place in the second week of the US Open), Rome, Madrid and Roland Garros. Schwartzman would play six tournaments within six weeks.
