Thiem receives 45 points for the ATP ranking for reaching the round of eight in Antwerp - enough to push past Jurij Rodionov next Monday and restore the old pecking order, as number 1 in Austria.

In the current live ranking, Thiem is in 125th place. Rodionov, not in action this week, is number 130. (Filip Misolic and Dennis Novak, who are listed behind them, were eliminated in the Naples qualifiers and in Hamburg and can no longer gain anything .)

Thiem's claims are of course significantly higher than "just" the ÖTV internal top, a close goal is above all to return to the top 100.

Thiem wants to be in the top 100 again

He could do that in Antwerp: not quite with a place in the semi-finals, here he would move up to around 110th place. If he reached the final, then he would be number 95 as of now. If he wins the tournament, 81st place would be the highest of feelings at the moment.

Arithmetic games or reality - and there is a heavy chunk in the way of Thiem on Friday: namely Hubert Hurkacz, the top seeded man in Antwerp. The Pole, currently number 11 in the world, had to go the distance 7: 6 (5), 6: 7 (5), 6: 1 over Scott Draper.

Above all, Hurkacz is one that Thiem has not yet won against: 3-0 in a direct comparison, Hurkacz last won against Thiem 6: 3, 6: 4 in Metz a few weeks ago.
