The year 2023 did not bring the hoped-for turnaround. In the spring of last year, Dominic Thiem restructured his immediate environment a little. Nicolas Massu, who had been successful with him for many years, no longer carried out the Austrian's coaching activities. Benjamin Ebrahimzadeh took on this role instead. The change should bring new impulses. Achieve the long-awaited return to the top of the world rankings.

But the last few months have not brought the hoped-for results, apart from reaching the final at the traditional tournament in Kitzbühel. Dominic Thiem is currently ranked 90th in the ATP rankings. There is no progress in the world rankings after the opening defeat at the Australian Open against Felix Auger-Aliassime and the first round elimination against Rafael Nadal in Brisbane. The upcoming next change in the coaching position seems almost logical.

Dominic Thiem returns to the tour in March

Dominic Thiem is now planning a new beginning of sorts in the coming weeks. First of all, a lot of training time will be invested at home with father Wolfgang, as Thiem himself said. The return to the tour won't be until March. At the Challenger in Szekesfehevar, Hungary (March 11th - 17th), important world ranking points will be at stake again. The next few weeks will see participation in the Challengers in Zadar (March 18th - 24th) and Naples (March 25th - 31st). In addition to the urgently needed sense of achievement, important world ranking points should also be achieved there.

Dominic Thiem will also have a tour coach at his side again. According to Thiem's own statement, this will only be announced at a later date. In the short term, the goal is to climb the world rankings in order to have better planning on the ATP Tour again.
