Even if "Angie" Kerber is currently only in 99th place in the WTA ranking, the top German athlete is still by far the best active tennis player in the DTB. And when her first child saw the light of day in March 2023, the three-time Grand Slam winner would like to return to the big women's tour. Who knows what else the Bremen native has up her sleeve. But today it's time to celebrate - her 35th birthday. We do it befitting with a gallery of their greatest tennis successes. Have fun browsing.

Great emotions at the first Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open 2016. The then 28-year-old sank to the ground after the match point was used in the final.
She won the match in the final against Serena Williams, who was considered almost unbeatable at the time - 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 4
After the Australian Open, 2016 should have some more great results for the Kieler with Polish roots.
Of course, after the first major triumph, the traditional bathing fun in the Yarra River in Melbourne could not be missed either.
Not a complete success in the end, but worthy of all credit: Kerber reached the final in Wimbledon in 2016, but was beaten there by Serena Williams 5: 7, 3: 6.
Laughing second: At the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Germany suffered a 4:6, 6:4, 1:6 defeat against one-hit wonder Monica Puig from Puerto Rico, but silver is still a long way off more than just "being there".
Two Grand Slam triumphs in one year is difficult to grasp. "Angie" crowns a brilliant season with a win in New York and reaching the top position in the WTA rankings.
In the final in Flushing Meadows Karolina Pliskova had to believe it - Kerber prevailed 6: 3, 4: 6, 6: 4 after a strong fighting performance.
All there is to say about this great triumph in one picture...
A perfect conclusion to the miracle year 2016 does not succeed at the WTA finals in Singapore, but the 3:6, 4:6 defeat against Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova is bearable compared to the other great successes this season.
Fast forward a good year and a half, we experience an understandable kneeling of the DTB player on the holy lawn of Wimbledon
Because "Angie" manages to take revenge for the defeat of two years before - with a 6: 3, 6: 3 final triumph over Serena Williams.
The Wimbledon triumph in 2018 remains the last major success of the German superstar. What the future will bring remains to be seen.
A fine 2022 snapshot from the Leipzig Opera Ball - we only have to congratulate you on your 35th birthday again: Happy Birthday, Angie!
