Two weeks full of tough, long matches and just one defeat are enough for now, says Iga Swiatek and will not start at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara. The Pole recently reached the final in Ostrava and the week after won the title with a three-set win over Croatian Donna Vekic in the final of the WTA 500 event in San Diego.

"It's definitely nice to have a few days off. In these two weeks, with the tournament in Ostrava, which was very intense and two matches, one lasting over three hours and one almost three hours, I feel that I need these days off," said Switaek after the triumph in San Diego. "I'm just not going to think about tennis for a few days to refuel and get more energy ahead of the final."

Swiatek highly satisfied with the team

She gets a lot of days off from her current trainer - and that's a good thing, as Swiatek emphasizes: "The trainer is usually the person who ultimately decides how much break I get and I'm really grateful that he gave me there are many of them," said the Pole. "Some might think that I'm 21 and I don't need to rest that much, but the season is so long and intense that with the planning we're doing right now with Tomasz and Maciej Ryszczuk (Swiatek's fitness trainer and physio) really do a great job."

In general, the world number one is very happy with her current team: "Without her, I wouldn't be able to take this place. I'm very happy that I have really good people who guide me, because I think that's the most important thing this high level, because everything counts." Just as important: having a good plan B. "It's really hard to find that perfect feeling (on court). I feel like I've had it maybe twice this season and that's still a lot. The other tournaments are just about the times to get through the ones that don't make you feel perfect."
