He is one of the tireless fighters in the tennis business, good old Feliciano Lopez. And after Roger Federer (ATP No. 9) it is number 2 (ATP No. 108) in the unofficial over 40 ranking.
In another ranking list, the Spaniard will be the only number 1 today: in most appearances at Masters level tournaments. Federer and Lopez have both taken part in a Masters tournament 138 times, and while Federer is in rehab efforts, Lopez can play against Tommy Paul today (2nd match after 8 p.m. CEST). He would overtake the Swiss with 139 Masters tournament participations.
Although Lopez has a slight disadvantage compared to Federer: He has won 28 Masters tournaments, Lopez was not in this category despite seven individual titles.
Philipp Kohlschreiber starts today in Indian Wells
By the way, it's not only for Lopez that it's starting today in Indian Wells: Daniel Altmeier starts against Sam Querrey at 8 p.m. CEST, Philipp Kohlschreiber will also play against Taro Daniel (also from 8 p.m. CEST) and Benoit Paire against Frances Tiafoe - among others.
