The main competitions for women and men at the highly prized Combined tournament in Indian Wells will start on March 8th in 2023. However, the day before that, the charity mixed competition "Eisenhower Cup", financed with 300,000 US dollars and named after the 34th President of the USA, Dwight D. Eisenhower, will take place for the fourth time.
This year, the organizers were really able to sign up a more than attractive field of participants, which also made tournament director Tommy Haas more than happy: "Tennis fans will be treated to the biggest stars of both tours, who will come together for an entertaining and unique mixed doubles event."
A total of eight teams will start at the 4th Eisenhower Cup and play their matches in the "Tie-Break-Tens" format. A team will only be announced shortly before the start of the tournament, the already established duos are:
- Aryna Sabalenka (BLR) / Talyor Fritz (USA)
- Iga Swiatek / Hubert Hurkacz (both POL)
- Emma Raducanu / Cameron Norrie (both GBR)
- Ons Jabeur (TUN) / Casper Ruud (NOR)
- Jessica Pegula / Tommy Paul (both US)
- Maria Sakkari / Stefanos Tsitsipas (both GRE)
In the previous year, the Eisenhower Cup was still held as a charity women's tournament. The winner was the American Amanda Anisimova, who defeated the Greek Maria Sakkari.
