In the qualifying final, Grabher beat the third seeded Kamilla Rakhimova 6:3 and 6:1 in rather inglorious weather conditions and is thus in the main draw of a WTA tournament for the second time in her career.
Most recently, Grabher had mastered the qualifying hurdle in Budapest in 2021 (but then lost in round 1), and she had benefited from a wildcard at her appearances in Linz (2019, 2020, 2021).
In Istanbul, the 25-year-old now meets the 35-year-old local hero Pemra Ozgen, currently number 320 in the WTA ranking. Will the first main field success follow here?
