The way Nick Kyrigos actually went about his entire 2022 Ranse season showed once again what the Australian is capable of. If he wants to. Best example: the third round duel in Wimbledon with Stefanos Tsistipas. In which, due to the questionable behavior of the two athletes, tennis had to take a backseat in the meantime, in which the Australian finally presented an impressive performance.
As is well known, the grass season should hold a new milestone in the career of the man from Canberra: entry into a Grand Slam final. And if John McEnroe has his way, the Australian could continue to do great things in the future: "He's probably the most talented player the sport has seen in the last decade and I like him as a person. I've coached him four times at the Laver Cup." , said the American.
Kyrgios with tremendous potential
But there's a catch: the 27-year-old's attitude. And with that the question of whether this would have improved after the success in Wimbledon. "We are all assessing the odds of Kyrgios turning to tennis now and while I have my doubts that he will, I would love to see him do just that," said McEnroe. "He's a good boy, but he has to devote himself to tennis."
So if the Wimbledon finalist really works on his professionalism, it's extremely good for tennis, it's just unlikely, as McEnroe emphasizes: "Hopefully he decides that [tennis] is worth dedicating to him couple of years. I don't think that's likely, but hopefully I'm wrong. I want to be wrong because if Nick were to devote himself to tennis it would be incredibly positive for our sport."
