Kveta Peschke: At the age of 46, it's slowly coming to an end
Kveta Peschke , one of the most successful doubles players on the WTA tour, has announced her departure. She only wants to compete again at Wimbledon.

A tennis world without Kveta Peschke - it was a long time ago. Peschke has been a professional player since 1993, now, at the age of 46, she has announced her departure from tennis.
"She said goodbye to professional tennis after 29 years and 36 doubles titles," the Czech Billie Jean King Cup team is quoted as saying .
As the WTA reports , Peschke wants to compete again: in Wimbledon in the summer.
The former world number one in doubles played her last WTA match this week in Charleston, with Tereza Mihalikova she lost here to Anna Danilina and Aliaksandra Sasnovich 3: 6, 3: 6. It is currently only listed at number 62.
Peschke, born Hrdlickova, was one of the most successful doubles players on the tour. It climbed to the top in 2011, and was in the top 10 at some point each year between 2006 and 2015, including five times at the end of the year. In singles she finished 26th.

Saying goodbye to Wimbledon would be fitting: Peschke won her only Grand Slam tournament here in 2011, together with her long-term partner Katarina Srebotnik, against the surprise finalists Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur. There are also five more finals in Grand Slam tournaments and a further eight participations in the semi-finals. In the mixed competition she was three times in the final of the US Open.
She also celebrated many successes with Anna-Lena Gröenefeld (4 tournament wins). She won her last title in Chicago in 2021 with Andrea Petkovic.
Oh yes: If Peschke is in top form again in Wimbledon, she could probably give herself the best birthday present: The final in women's doubles will take place on July 10th, Peschke will celebrate her 47th birthday the day before...
