The teams for this year's edition of the Laver Cup are beginning to take shape. It has been clear since Thursday evening that Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev will play for the European selection. The Greek and the Russian are the first two players in Björn Borg's team.
"They are both incredible young players at the highest level with great records in the Laver Cup," said the Swede. While Tsitsipas has a record of three wins and one loss in singles, Ruvlev is still undefeated in three games. Borg: "I am very happy to have Stefanos and Andrey in our team this year."
Fritz and Tiafoe join "Team World"
Meanwhile, three players have already been chosen for the world selection. In addition to Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will also play for John McEnroe's side. "I know that I can rely on these guys (...). I'm very confident that we have a chance with them in Vancouver," said the American.
In the Canadian metropolis, "Team World" will try to defend the title from last year. The premiere triumph in 2022 was overlaid by the end of Rogers Federer's career. This year the team competition will take place from September 22nd to 24th. Six players are nominated for each selection.
