Martina Hingis and husband Harry Leemann go their separate ways. The Swiss Blick reported online on Friday. After four years of marriage, the liaison between the former number one in the women's tennis world and the Swiss sports doctor failed. Hingis had already moved out of the common household with their three-year-old daughter Lia.
"Yes, Harry and I broke up. We have other life plans and other goals and have grown apart," Hingis confirmed the love off to the Swiss view. The five-time Grand Slam winner has now moved into an apartment on Lake Zurich, in the immediate vicinity of her mother and her partner, together with daughter Lia.
Second failed marriage for Hingis
For Martina Hingis it is the second failed marriage. From 2010 to 2013, the 41-year-old was in a relationship with Thibault Hutin, a French show jumper. The fact that the second marriage also breaks up is a painful turning point for Hingis, "but it's better for everyone involved," explained the Swiss woman, who is striving for a good relationship with ex-partner Leemann in the interest of their daughter.
"Harry is my daughter's father, and the goal is that we have a reasonable relationship in the future, out of consideration for Lia," explained Hingis, who can only file for divorce with a period of two years. With her 43 individual titles, Hingis is the most successful Swiss athlete of all time, and the 41-year-old still likes to be on the tennis court - in addition to mountain biking and horseback riding.
