On the sidelines of the UTS series, initiator Patrick Mouratoglou was asked why the sympathies of the “Big 3” are distributed the way they are. So why the fans especially love Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but have their problems with the statistically more successful Novak Djokovic.

The man who overthrew the legends

Serena Williams' ex-coach believes that viewers are so critical of Novak Djokovic because he defeated Federer and Nadal, who were considered invincible: "Rafa and Roger were the biggest superstars in tennis, but Novak came and beat both of them and the audience hated him for it."

Mouratoglou can also think of other reasons for Djoker's difficult relationship with large parts of the fans: "I think he gets booed for other reasons too. He says he doesn't like this negativity, but sometimes he pushes the audience to booing him because it helps him during matches. We should not forget that he has 14 million followers on Instagram, he is a big hero in Serbia. He is the biggest name in tennis and we will all miss him when he retires to play the sport."
